Rayne Rotary Holds Installation Banquet, Members Awarded
The 2015 recipient of the Rayne Rotarian of the Year Award, Natasha Domagalski, was out of state when she was recognized during the annual officers installation banquet Thursday night, June 25, at Fezzo’s Restaurant in Scott.
The club’s highest honor will be presented to her at the club’s next meeting.
Also honored was Steve Bandy who was named the recipient of the Service Above Self Award.
Outgoing President Kyle Broussard opened the banquet by announcing the club has received a $1,000 grant from Rotary District 2600 in support of the Josh the Otter water safety program presented to local kindergarten students.
Broussard has reported he and Past District Governor Clarence Prudhomme had met with Rayne High School Principal John Prudhomme about establishing an Interact Club at the school.
Reflecting on his year leading the club, Broussard said he learned “how special it is to be a Rotarian.” He noted the experience “had a positive impact” on him, as he thanked his officers, offering a special appreciation to the new members who joined during the past year.
Perfect attendance pins were presented to Nick Simoneaux, 16 years; Bob Landry, 11 years; Steve Bandy, Fran Bihm, Roland Boudreaux, Jimmy Fontenot, Jarrod Gardiner, Troy Kibodeaux, Jared Lawless, Lyle LeLeux, Cheryl Rivette and Kyle Broussard, four years; Natasha Domagalski and Ken Arceneaux, three years; Abby Guidry Rose Schexnider, and Claire Benoit; two years; and Lewis Rathun and Cynthia Oliver, one year.
Broussard also presented Rotarian of the Year plaques to prior recipients Ken Arceneaux, 2014; Sam Ratanji, 2013; and Fran Bihm, 2012.
Past District Governor Prudhomme, who served as installing officer, said he was “impressed with the dynamic of this club.” He also encouraged the Rayne Rotarians to become more involved in service at the district level.
Ken Arceneaux assumed his new role as president. Joining him as officers for the coming year were Rose Schexnider, president-elect; Steve Bandy, vice president; Cynthia Beslin, secretary; Cheryl Rivette, treasurer; and Celeste Touchet, sergeant-at-arms.
Also installed as directors were Claire Benoit, Natasha
Domagalski and Jared Lawless.
Kyle Broussard was presented his past president’s plaque by President Arceneaux.
