With the cost of living constantly on the rise and the added expenses of school that can put a huge burden on some families, the A & O 21st Century Club, Inc., along with support from the Sisters of A & O and 6th Man Sports, hosted the annual Back to School Event and Family Fun Day.
The Rayne community was invited to the free event at the Rayne Civic Center on Sunday, Aug. 10, where school supplies, uniforms, door prizes, fun jumps, music, and even a free bingo for the adults were provided. More than 300 students took part in the annual event.
As one of the organizers of this event, Chairperson Brian Mouton was very pleased to see a total of 800 students come through the doors of the Rayne Civic Center during the week-long “Open Gym” in addition to the Back to School Event on Sunday.
“I would like to thank all the individuals that donated to this important event provided for our Rayne youth,” stated Mouton. “A special thanks to the City of Rayne for allowing us to provide a service that is needed in our City, in addition to the many volunteers and donors who helped us for another successful event.”
The A & O also sponsored a street drive last Friday and Saturday to help with the purchase of much-needed school supplies for Rayne youth. Many thanks are extended to the individuals who helped with this annual venture.
