Sunday shooting reported at Rayne Burger King

Shooter still at large

RAYNE - Rayne Chief of Police Carroll J. Stelly announced his Criminal Investigation Division is investigating a shooting that occurred today (Sunday) in Rayne.

At 1:01 p.m. on Sunday, May 15, 2016, Rayne Police officers responded to a call of shots fired at Burger King. Upon their arrival, officers discovered the victim had been transported in a personal vehicle to Acadia General Hospital in Crowley where he is undergoing surgery. The victim of the shooting today was the same victim shot on Sunday, May 8, 2016 on Holt Street in Rayne.

The initial investigation shows a silver Toyota Range or Land Rover entered the Burger King parking lot and blocked in a silver Ford Fusion. The driver of the Rover then exited his vehicle and was attempting to gain entry into the Ford and then shots were fired. The suspects then left the scene heading north on Roberts Cove Road (Hwy 98).

Rayne Police are trying to identify the shooter, a young black male in his early twenties, and also the vehicle, a silver Toyota Land or Range Rover, with a large dent in the passenger rear door.
