Rayne Gator Day will be observed Monday, Sept. 8
In a brief ceremony Tuesday evening, Mayor Roland Boudreaux proclaimed Monday, Sept. 8 as “Rayne Gator Day.”
The proclamation notes:
WHEREAS, it gives me a tremendous amount of pleasure to express to all the members of the Rayne Gators, on behalf of the City Council and all the citizens of Rayne, our sincere congratulations on your First Place finish in the Girls 8-U Pony World Series Tournament; and
WHEREAS, you are to be commended for an exciting, hard-fought, and successful season and we are proud of the record you have earned, as well as the fine publicity you have brought to our community; and
WHEREAS, we know that a special commendation is due all of the team members, coaches, and the team sponsors who have generously provided financial and moral support; and
NOW THEREFORE, I, Roland 1. Boudreaux, Mayor of the City of Rayne, do hereby proclaim September 8, 2014 as “RAYNE GATORS DAY” in the City of Rayne and hereby extend this expression of our pride in your accomplishment, and our appreciation for the fine pUblicity you have brought to our community by your good sportsmanship and inspired team play.”
The team members and their coaches will be recognized at Monday night’s City Council meeting.
Taking part in the signing ceremony were coaches Keith Richard, Randy Guidry, Shannon Royer and City Recreation Director Dwayne Derise. Unable to attend was coach Derek Richard.
