Alexander pleads to reduced charge

Sentencing is scheduled May 28 for Anna Alexander, who pleaded guilty Wednesday to a reduced charge of manslaughter in the shooting death of her husband.
Her trial on second-degree murder charges was scheduled for April 29 and jury selection under way when Alexander pleaded to the new charge.
She had pleaded not guilty and not guilty by reason of insanity to the murder charge.
A Sanity Commission earlier this month told the court that she was able to assist in her defense and recognized right from wrong at the time of the crime.
Judge Donald Hebert accepted the plea and set the sentencing date.
Alexander, by virtue of the plea, admits to killing her husband on the driveway of their home just outside Eunice in April 2007.
