Jeanny Choate strong>
May 25, 1925 ~ November 18, 2008
Abbeville—Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 21, 2008 at First Baptist Church of Abbeville honoring the life of Jeanny LeBlanc Choate, 83, who died Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital.
She will be laid to rest at St. James Cemetery with Reverend Noah Langley and Reverend Pres Riley officiating the services.
Pallbearers will be Shane Redwing, Clint Redwing, Ryan Davidson, Chad Sherman, Kyle Choate and Kris Gachassin. Honorary pallbearers will be Donni Choate, Jim Choate, Tyler Choate, Tanner Choate, Ross Davidson, Corey Baker, Jada Choate and Tiffany Vollmer.
She is survived by two sons, Jim and wife Bonnie Choate and Donni and wife Jodi Choate all of Abbeville; four daughters, Glenda and husband Al Baker of Abbeville, Darlene and husband Ray Gachassin of Broussard, Gaynell Sherman of Sulphur, and Marilyn and husband Terry Davidson of Abbeville; twelve grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Marvin Choate; parents, Adam and Evine LeBlanc; two brothers, Ejuste and Harry LeBlanc; five sisters, Olite Lege, Olive Broussard, Luna Hernandez, Adele Chauvin, Laura Schexnider; three grandchildren, Shannon Redwing, Jana Gachassin and Raywood Gachassin, Jr.; and son-in-law, Wade Sherman.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Thursday, November 20, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m.; Friday, November 21, 2008 from 8:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. when the procession will depart for the church.
The family would like to offer a heartfelt thank you to Hospice of Acadiana, Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital and all who helped care for Mrs. Choate.

Mildred Jolly strong>
Funeral services for Mrs. Mildred Jolly, 80, the former Mildred Coleman will be held at 11:00am Saturday, November 22, 2008 at St. Theresa Catholic Church with Rev. Kenneth Mayne officiating.
She will be awaiting the resurrection at St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday at C. M. Butler Funeral Home from 7:30am until 10:45am with a rosary to be prayed at 10:30am.
Mildred Coleman Jolly was born on April 20, 1928 to the late Dalton and Agnes Thomas Coleman. On Tuesday, November 18, 2008, she departed this earthly life at 3:41 p.m. at Abbeville General Hospital.
“Sister” and "Krees” as she was known to most, was a faithful member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, the church’s Ladies Altar Society, and Gospel Choir until her health failed. She also served in the capacity as an organist. She would awake as early as 4:00 a.m. daily and was an avid lover of completing crossword puzzles and enjoyed casino trips. She also enjoyed listening and dancing to Zydeco music.
Mildred leaves to cherish her memories, one son: Joseph Jolly, III of Abbeville, Louisiana, one daughter: Joanette M. Jolly Charles (Howard) of Carencro, Louisiana, two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, dear friends who she deemed as her sisters: Josephine Levy, Clara McCoy, Audrey Peters, Mary Henderson, Linda Thibeaux and Gladys Williams, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was proceeded in death by her husband, Joseph Jolly, II, her parents, Dalton and Agnes Thomas Coleman and her sister, Sister Mary Jo Ann Coleman.

Thelma L. Bertrand strong>

Kaplan—Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 22, 2008 at Kaplan Cemetery honoring the life of Thelma L. Bertrand, 82, who passed away, Monday, November 17, 2008.
Mrs. Bertrand was a native of Kaplan and a graduate of Kaplan High School. She had resided in Santa Rosa County, Florida since 1966 and was a member of Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Mrs. Bertrand was a devoted mother and avid bridge player. She loved spending time with her dear friends. Her family will miss her deeply. Mrs. Bertrand is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Dr. Joseph Ezel Bertrand and daughter, Sharon Louise Bertrand.
Mrs. Bertrand is survived by sons, Kenneth (Nancy) Bertrand, of O’Fallon, MO and Dr. Joseph Keith (Jean) Bertrand of Bishop, GA; daughters, Melissa (Brian) Jordan of Milton, FL and Michelle (Randy) Curran of Jenks, OK; nine grandchildren, Kimberly, Nicole, Kristin, Jarod, Maria, Elizabeth, Troy, Klayton, and Jenna; five great grandchildren; and brother, J. “Jimmy” (Elaine) Landry of Kaplan.
Visitation was held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel in Florida. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Thursday, November 20, 2008 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church (Florida).
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mrs. Bertrand’s memory to Sacred Heart Children’s Heart Foundation, PO Box 2700, Pensacola, FL 32513-2700.

Abbeville- Funeral services will be held for Mr. John Paul Dexter at 2:00pm saturday, November 22, 2008 at Faith Hope Baptist Church with Rev. B. K. Stevens, officiating.
He will be awaiting the resurrection at St. Paul Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 10:00am until time of service. A resident of Abbeville, he passsed away on Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at Abbeville General Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Mercedes Joiner Dexter; five children, Timothy Peters, Dexter Anthony Peters, Keith Peters, Daffy Peters, and Jack Peters; mother-in-law, Elmonia Joiner; aunt-in-law, Bessie Williams; one sister, Mazie Lee Winning of Los Angeles, CA; two brothers, Alvin Dexter and Tommy Barnes both of Los Angeles, CA; 3 aunts, Mary Johnson of Atlanta, GA, Neomia Brister of Kokomo, MS, and Nellie Tyson of New Orleans, LA; uncles, Eugene MaGee of Tyler Town, MS, Albert McGee of New Orleans, LA, Oliver McGee of Atlanta, GA; 13 grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. C. M. Butler Funeral Home of Abbeville is in charge of the arrangements.
Evelia LeMaire strong>
Kaplan—Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, November 21, 2008 at St. Anne Catholic Church honoring the life of Evelia LeMaire, 100, who died Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital.
She will be laid to rest at Immaculate Conception Cemetery with Reverend Randall Moreau officiating the services.
She is survived by six sons, Jerry LeMaire of Rayne, Paul Warren LeMaire of Forked Island, Jimmy LeMaire of Brusly, Bradley LeMaire of Geismar, Wade LeMaire of Cow Island, Terry LeMaire of Forked Island; three daughters, Betty Anderson of Forked Island, Blondie LeMaire of Cow Island, Sherry Inabnet of Geismar; two sisters, Rosella Marceaux of Kaplan, Irene Oja of Lafayette; twenty-six grandchildren, six step gandchildren, fifty-four great grandchildren, fifteen step great grandchildren, eleven great great grandchildren and five step great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leopold LeMaire and one son, Carl LeMaire.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Thursday, November 20, 2008 from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m. with a rosary being prayed at 8 p.m., Friday, from 8 a.m. until services.
