IOTA –– A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Iota for Joseph C. Joseph, 71, who died at 5:03 p.m. Saturday, July 2, 2011 in Lake Charles, LA.

Fr. Mikel Polson will celebrate the Mass. Visitation may be observed on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. and the Rosary will be prayed at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday. The Iota American Legion will fold and present the Flag at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Mr. Joseph was born August 23, 1939 in Mowata, LA to the late Joseph Joseph and Mary Schneider Joseph. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served his country during the Korean War. He worked in the oil field most of his life and retired as a tool pusher.

He is survived by his wife Cindy Rasberry Joseph of Iota; 5 daughters Lenaya Wheeler and husband Raymond of Crowley, Naomi Reed and husband Brent of Iota, Elizabeth Zaunbrecher and husband Phillip of Rayne, Lisa Chaumont and husband Greg of Eunice, Elsie Lane and husband Robert of Iowa; 2 sons Joseph C. Joseph, II of Iota and Matt Joseph and his wife Bridget of Mowata; a sister Felicita Gibson and her husband Al of Crowley; 4 stepchildren Jeffery Menou of Iota, Heather Gotte of Sulphur, Jerry Menou of Crowley and Yuvonna Alegre and her husband Dustin of Sulphur; 25 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Greta Ortego.
