Murphy Lee “Soup Bone” Davis
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, at Starlight Baptist Church in Rayne for Murphy Lee “Soup Bone” Davis, 66, who died Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, at his home in Rayne.
Burial will be in the West Crowley Cemetery.
He is survived by one daughter, Cora Marie Winters (André) of Crowley; three grandchildren, Tevin Savoy and Nykeila and Deandre’a Winters, all of Crowley; four sisters, Beulah Faye Jones of Port Arthur, Texas, Linda Davis (Percy) and Verlin Young (Robert) of Rayne and Joyce Laudin Welcome of Galveston, Texas; three brothers, Chester Davis of Rayne, Tony Laudin of Lafayette and Edward Davis; and one uncle, Arthur Davis of Crowley.
He also is survived by nine stepchildren, Richard Savoy Jr., Amelia Fusilier, Anthony Savoy Sr., Christina Savoy and Ronald Savoy, all of Crowley; and Lisa, Sharon, Elijah and Cynthia Mayfield, all of Jennings; two godchildren, Sherone Guidry and Markel Cole of Rayne; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Sr. and Mary Davis; grandparents, Henry and Cora Laudin; two brothers, Lawrence and John Davis Jr.; one sister, Cora Marie Minix; and one daughter, Erica Faye Savoy.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Wilturner Funeral Home of Crowley.
