‘Season of Blessings’ banquet recognizes seniors
A number of senior citizens in the area were honored on Saturday night as the National Association of University Women, Crowley Branch, hosted its “Season of Blessings” banquet.
The Feb. 15 banquet was held at the International Rice Festival Building in Crowley to honor seniors who have made great contributions to the churches, schools and communities of Acadiana.
Myrtle Cain served as mistress of ceremonies, and the honorees were presented by LaTonya Evans and Cheryl Shelvin-Lewis. A musical tribute was presented by Bethani Pete.
Those honored included Jeffery N. Andrus, Mildred Byers, Beatrice B. Cain, Viola Cain, Shirley M. Carmouche, Eva Clement, Abraham Douglas, Martha Ann Duhon, Francis Gobar, Rev. Louis Handy Sr., Carrie Jean Harmon, Nat Malveaux, Cathy Byers McDougle, Mary Ann W. Milton, Johnny Mitchell Jr., Mary Jane Pitre, Edna Harmon Robinson, Rev. Don Roosa, Patricia Roosa, Elrita Scott, Leola Thomas, Morris Thomas, Anthony Wallace, Gloria Johnson Wallace and Bishop Marie Washum.
