All-Star Basketball Classic slated for Saturday

CROWLEY – A number of the area’s top senior basketball players will suit up for one final prep contest Saturday when they participate in the 25th Annual USA High School All-Star Classic at the Crowley Middle School Gym.
The event, which is sponsored by Larry Guidry Educational-Sports Youth Programs and Louisiana Youth Conference, Inc., will tip off at 2 p.m. and there will also be a slam dunk and a 3-point contest.
Admission is $6.
The game will pit the East All-Stars against the West, although some exceptions were made to even out the teams.
The East squad will be headed up by Midland’s Jake Gautreaux and Darren Arceneaux, who are coming off the school’s first state championship in 37 years. Joining the duo are Crowley High’s Bryston Domino and Notre Dame’s Tre Milstead.
Also on the East squad are Northside’s Gerald Andrus and Paul McZeal; Comeaux’s Trylin Prejean and Keshawn Jones; Lafayette Christian’s Jordan Parker; Catholic of New Iberia’s Tim Granger; Acadiana’s Al Francis; New Iberia’s David Harden and Tioga’s Terrance Cobb.
Crowley High’s Chris Lewis and Marcus Williams will suit up for the West squad along with Rayne High standout Payton Larry.
Also on the West roster are Iowa’s Taray Martin, Terrance Hicks, Lee LeBlanc and Shawn Duhon; Lacassine’s Anthony Broxton, Joshua Wykoff and Dominque Clophus; Washington Marion’s Christopher Smith and Dionte Dixon and Beau Chene’s Chris Hitchenson.
