Opening ceremonies held for Rec summer season

With the opening weekend of the 2014 Rayne Recreation Summer Baseball Softball Program, a special opening ceremony was held Saturday, April 26, at Gossen Memorial Park as announced by Rayne Rec Director Dwayne Derise.
Colors were presented by Boy Scouts Dax and Drake Constantin, with the National Athem sung by Payton Broussard and Kinsley Stelly.
The first pitches were thrown by Kelsey Hollier for the girl’s league and Randy Guidry for the boy’s league. Hollier is a former player of the program who is now a member of the LSUE Lady Bengals Softball Team. Guidry served the City of Rayne as Rayne Rec Director for amost 20 years.
Mistress of ceremonies was Pam Hollingsworth, who introduced Mayor Roland Boudreaux, City Council members Gerald Foreman and Calise Doucet, and members of the clergy.
Approximately 600 players will participate in the 2014 summer program.
Baseball-Softball League Results
Mother Nature has cooperated in the weather department for a good start of the 2014 summer program of the Rayne Recreation Baseball/Softball League.

Boys Pinto: Red Sox over Braves 22-18, Rockies over Orioles 14-8, Pirates over Cubs 17-11, Braves over Orioles 16-0, Rockies over Marlins 7-3, Orioles over Mariners 19-3, Rays over Marlins 15-11, Mariners over A’s 16-6, Rays over Cubs 15-9, Red Sox over A’s 15-1, Red Sox over Pirates 16-12.
Girls Pinto: Sluggers over Tigers 15-4, Tigers over Twisters 12-8, Twisters over Rascals 21-19, Tigers over Lightning 18-14, Rascals over Diamonds 18-14, Sluggers over Diamonds 15-1, Tigers over Diamonds 17-3, Sluggers over Rascals 14-11.
Boys Mustang: Red Sox over Rockies 16-0, Cubs over Pirates 15-3, Braves over Rockies 9-5, Cubs over A’s 9-2, Orioles over Braves 13-7, A’s over Pirates 15-4, Red Sox over Orioles 19-3.
Girls Mustang: Twisters over Rascals 10-6, Twisters over Sluggers 14-6, Rascals over Sluggers 8-6.
Boys Bronco: Red Sox over Orioles 7-4, Rockies over Braves 5-0, Orioles over Rockies 2-0.
Girls Bronco: Sluggers over Twisters 14-6, Turtles over Twisters 15-0, Heat over Rascals 9-7, Sluggers over Twisters 11-3.
Boys Pony: Braves over Red Sox 8-3.
