Mathias Sylvester “Matt” Coates

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 16, at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel for Mathias Sylvester “Matt” Coates, 44, who died May 13, 2014, at St. Martin Hospital in Breaux Bridge.

Rev. Robbie Lawson, pastor of First Assembly of God Church in Farmerville will be officiating for the services. The family is requesting visiting hours to be held Thursday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to the time of service. Interment will be in Quibodeaux Cemetery in Midland.

He is survived by his parents, Wayne and Christa Coates of Farmerville; his wife, Carla Coates of Midland; three daughters, Kala Smith of Mississippi, Caitlyn Coates and Madilyn Coates, both of Midland; two sons, Christopher Bourque of Crowley and Cavan Cormier of Midland; two sisters, Sylvia Crawford of Columbia, Louisiana, and Patricia Alford of Downsville; one brother, Wayne Coates Jr.; one great-granddaughter, Trinity Smith of Mississippi; and his companion, Mellissa Guidry of Breaux Bridge.
