Rayne’s Brian Mouton among GGR honorees

LAFAYETTE - Brian Mouton of Rayne was one of 16 honorees recognized during the 2014 Girls and Guys Rock Louisiana Awards Show held Saturday, July 19, at the CajunDome Convention Center.

The red carpet event honored 16 deserving I Rock honorees and six young and gifted honorees who have showcased in inspiring, motivating and empowering the communities throughout Louisiana.

The honorees were selected by a panel of judges who are prominent in Louisiana communities, including Missy Andrade - Lafayette Chamber of Commerce, Dr. Jennifer Hightower Jackson - self-employed nutritionist and former associate vice-chancellor for Institutional Advancement at South Louisiana Community College, and Mr. and Mrs. Mike Bedgood, editor for IND Monthly.

The goal of Girls and Guys Rock Louisiana is to celebrate for a purpose the individuals who have made outstanding contributions throughout Louisiana communities while being positive influences for our youth. GGR Louisiana exemplifies positivity, determination, self-worth, influence, and most importantly, redefine what the definition of an empowered individual can be.

Accepting his award, Mouton said, “Thanks again to the Girls and Guys Rock Louisiana Organization for giving me the opportunity to share my story and recognizing me for my efforts in the Rayne Community. Service is a part of all of us and it’s up to you to live a life of purpose.”
