IBHS 1952 graduating class gathers for reunion

Classmates of the graduating class of 1952 at the former Indian Bayou High School gathered on Friday, July 11, 2014, for an afternoon of reminising and memories for their 62-year reunion.

The 5 p.m. gathering was held at Chef Roy’s Frog City Café in Rayne where classmates and guests attended from Rayne, Indian Bayou, Crowley, Lafayette, Maurice, Kaplan, New Iberia, Sulphur and Arkansas.

Graduates attending were Elwood Comeaux, Shirley Comeaux Foote, J.K. DuBose, Ernest Gaspard, Patsy Henry Sarver, Welvin P. Hernandez, Nell Hoffpauir Savoy, Robert Lee Landry and Austin Morgan.

Deceased classmates remembered were Corbet Comeaux, Dallas Arabie, Elma Fabre Trosclair, James Landry, E.J. Leger, Utice Rost, Juanita Schexnaider Boudreaux, Mildred Simon Doucet, Kay Stutes Morgan and Clifford Thibodeaux.

Reunion committee members were Patsy Sarver, Nell Savoy, Herbert Landry and Elwood Comeaux.

Class officers were president Patsy Henry Sarver, vice president Mildred Simon Doucet, secretary Elma Fabre and treasurer Elwood Comeaux.

Remembered was the class flower of wild iris and the class colors of purple and white. The class song was “That’s My Desire” and the class motto was “We Have Crossed The Bay, The Ocean Lies Before Us.”
