Pink Ladies plan annual fall luncheon
The board of the Pink Ladies of the Acadia General Hospital met for its monthly meeting on Monday, Sept. 1, in the Conference Room of the hospital.
President Gloria LeBlanc led the meeting. She called on Evelyn Barousse, chaplain, to lead the ladies in the volunteer prayer, pledge and the Pledge of Allegiance.
Dean Gaspard, acting secretary, called the roll and gave the minutes for the previous meeting. Eight members were present.
Treasurer Nettie Romero gave the treasurer’s report, which was approved pending audit.
Gaspard and Barousse informed the group that they had presented a Pink Lady scholarship to Ruby Ann Chiasson at the South La. Community College Acadian Campus. Chiasson will use the money to continue her education in nursing after her graduation in December of 2014.
Hospitality Chairman Leora Amy reported that the organization will invite several special guests to attend the annual Christmas party.
Scrapbook Chairman Barbara Courville advised that the book is up-to-date with several interesting articles. She also agreed to chair the nominating committee.
Mary Briley, parliamentarian, gave the members new notebook cover sheets entitled “Auxiliary of the Acadia General Hospital”.
The October Fall Luncheon will be held on Oct. 1 at 10:30 a.m. at the Rice Palace. The luncheon will include a necrology service for two of the organization’s deceased members, and guest speaker will be Monica Guidry, volunteer manager.
The next regular board meeting will be held on Sept. 29 at 9 a.m. in the hospital conference room.
