Kerminth Cormier

Funeral services for Mr. Kerminth Cormier, 72, of Mire were held on Friday, September 19, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. in Duhon Funeral Home Chapel, Rayne.  Father Mike Arnaud officiated.  
Entombment with military honors followed in Assumption of the BVM Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum.
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 18, 2014, from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. in Duhon Funeral Home, Rayne, with a rosary being recited at 6:00 p.m.  Visitation continued on Friday from 8:00 a.m. until service time in the funeral home.
Mr. Cormier passed away on Tuesday, September 16, 2014, at 5:16 p.m. in his Mire residence.
A native and lifelong resident of the Rayne/Mire area,  Mr. Cormier served in the U.S. Navy.  He retired from AAA Sign Company as shop foreman, and had previously worked at Lewis Sign Company and Signs Unlimited.  Mr. Cormier was a jack of all trades, and he enjoyed doing mechanic work, doing repairs around the house, and doing wood craft projects.  His greatest joy in life was spending time with and caring for his family.
Survivors include his wife of over 50 years, Theresa Falcon Cormier of Mire; daughters, Kim Cormier of Mire, and Krystal Arceneaux and husband, Joseph, of Mire; sons, Kenneth Cormier and wife, Belinda, of Mire, Kevin Cormier and wife, Renee, of Duson, and Carl Cormier and wife, Becky, of Duson; sisters, Deanna Lopez of Mire, Nelda Trahan and husband, Harry Lee, of Mire, and Gloria Lopez of Rayne; brothers, Rayford Lopez and wife, Sue, of Richard, Filton Miller of Mire, Wilton Lopez and wife, Sue, of Rayn e, and Austin Lopez of Rayne; 9 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren on the way.  He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Preceding Mr. Cormier in death were his parents, Theodore Lopez, Sr. and Marie Cormier Lopez; sisters, Theolia Lopez and Eva Dell Gibbs; and brothers, Theodore Lopez, Jr, Louis Lopez, Geno Thibodeaux, and Lucius Lopez.
Serving as pallbearers were Kenneth Cormier, Kevin Cormier, Carl Cormier, Joseph Arceneaux, Kenneth Cormier, Jr., and Zack Faul.  Named as honorary pallbearers were Steven Cormier, Cobie Richard, Tyler Richard, and Josh Pennington.
The family requested that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Heart of Hospice, 201 West Vermilion Street, Suite 100, Lafayette, LA 70501.  The family also wishes to express sincere gratitude to Heart of Hospice, Nurse Heather, Chaplain Jack, and all of the nurses who assisted the family through this difficult time.
