2014 Project Pink held, royalty crowned

The 17th annual “Project Pink”, Breast Cancer Awareness event, and the 7th annual Project Pink Pageant were held Saturday, October 4, at the Rayne Civic Center.
Chairperson for the 2014 event was Theresa Prather, assisted by ladies of Preceptor Alpha Chi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
The day was dedicated to the late Barbara P. Spaetgens, with Jamie Marx Meche named this year’s Project Pink Ambassador.
The children’s pageant began at 9:30 a.m. with the following honorees crowned: Baby Queen Ava Claire Thomas, T’Nincy Queen Aubree Broussard, Toddler Queen Eden Jefcoat, Tiny Queen Jolie Ferris, Petite Queen Matty Stutes, Little Queen Brilyn Cormier, and Deb Queen Amelia Mickal.
Following the children’s division contests, PAC Chapter president and Project Pink chairperson Theresa Prather presented a check to Susan G. Komen representative Lori Tursic.
A $250 check was donated to Project Pink from employees of Bank of Commerce and Trust Company as a result of a special “Pink” day. Making the presentation was Charlotte Istre.
The afternoon session began with the following division winners: Junior Teen Queen Cora Ledet, Teen Queen Macy Jo Thibodeaux, Miss Queen Nicole Taylor, Ms. Queen Leslie Meyer, and Lady Queen Janet Doucet.
Tickets were also sold for the annual “Angel of Hope” 12” Seraphim angel raffle valued at $175. She wears a pink ribbon and sash to represent the commitment to bringing the world closer to a cure of breast cancer. Winners were announced and the day of events which ended with the annual balloon release.
