Acadia Parish volleyball teams log victories
IOTA – The Iota Lady Bulldogs proved to be too much for the Crowley Ladies Thursday when they cruised to a 3-0 victory in a district volleyball contest.
Madeline Gatte led the Lady Dogs with 10 kills while Jillian Boone had nine and Cambri St. Andre added eight. Also logging kills were Taylor Deville and Whitney Landry with three each, Mallory Faul with two and Emily Navarre with one.
Faul was also the team’s assist leader with 28 to go along with eight aces.
Baidlee Villejoin and Kelsey Milson each had one kill for the Ladies. Villejoin also had a block.
Hannah Hart contributed for CHS with a pair of aces and three digs;Gracie Richard had an ace; Madelyn LeBouef added a block and Melania Doughty had four digs.
Crowley returns to action on Monday for a league matchup at North Vermilion while Iota travels to Rayne Tuesday.
ND 3, Catholic-NI 0
CROWLEY – The Notre Dame Lady Pios improved to 11-11 on the season and, more importantly, moved to 2-0 in district play Thursday with a 3-0 victory over Catholic of New Iberia.
Grace Morgan and Olivia Barbin paced the Lady Pios in kills with 12 and five, respectively, while Paityn Desselle and Madelyn Cassedy each had two.
Josie Lamm set up the offense with 13 assists and Sammi Leger had eight. Both setters also had four aces each while Leger also had a block.
The Lady Pios return to action Monday when they play host to St. Thomas More in a non-district contest.
NCS 3, Westminster 1
OPELOUSAS – The Northside Christian Lady Warriors opened up district play with a 3-1 road victory over Westminster Thursday evening.
The Lady Warriors (15-8, 1-0) won the first game, 25-22, before dropping the second by the same score. They then took the third game, 25-22, before closing out the match with a 25-21 victory.
Kathryn Zaunbrecher had a career-best 21 kills and 14 blocks while also adding four aces and seven digs.
Victoria Monte added 10 kills, four blocks, one aced and nine digs; Leah Monte logged five kills and 20 digs; Chloe Dietz had three kills and 12 digs to go along with 14 assists; Zoie Hanagriff had three kills, one ace and 29 digs and Sydni Guidry had two kills, 24 digs and 18 assists.
Also contributing in the victory were Meghan Vincent (44 digs), Brooke Stanford (1 kill, 2 digs) and Aubrrey Armstrong (1 dig).
The Lady Warriors will travel to Grand Coteau Monday to take on Academy of Sacred Heart in another league contest.
