The Rayne High Lady Wolves enter the final week of the 2014-2015 regular volleyball season with a 32-6 overall and 11-2 district slate following a close loss to Teurlings  on Thursday.

“With our only district loss to Teurlings, we should finish up between fourth and sixth in the rankings,” stated Rayne High Head Coach Stephanie Garrett following Thursday’s loss to the No. 1-ranked Rebels.

“We came out flat in the first game and had to play catch-up,” noted Garrett of the four-game contest. “When you’re put in that situation, it’s hard to come out with a win, especially against a team like them.”

In the opening game, Rayne was placed on defense the entire time and dropped the opener 5-25.

But, the Lady Wolves rallied back in the second game pulling off a 25-23 win behind some solid offense and stingy defense.

Teurlings answered in the 15-25 third game, before pulling off a 25-27 fourth and final game of the match -- seeing the score remaining tied throughout most of the thrilling game. A questionable call with the score tied at 25-all swung the Rebel’s momentum for the win.

The Lady Wolves were scheduled to complete their regular schedule this week as they traveled to Lafayette on Tueaday to meet Northside, followed by their annual “Pink Game” on Wednesday in Grand Coteau against The Academy of the Sacred Heart.

“The way it looks now, it looks like we will draw a bye the first round, and probably play the following Monday,” Garrett continued. “Time will tell.”
