Laureate Mu learns heritage preservation
Members of Laureate Mu Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met at the Crowley home of Shirley Griffin on Tuesday, Nov. 4.
Prior to the regular meeting, rituals were held for Phillis Trigg, pledge; Connie Jaubert, exemplar degree; and Jean Hanks, preceptor degree.
“What’s Your Heritage?” was the title of the program presented by Griffin. She advised members regarding how to gather, preserve, sustain and make relevant material relating to one’s heritage.
Each member present also shared pictures, items and stories relating to her heritage.
Service Chairman Gloria Stutes collected spray bleach to be brought to Miss Helen’s Soup Kitchen.
President Nancy Tislow reminded members of the “Taste of Crowley” event scheduled for Nov. 6 and the Crowley Veterans Day program set for Nov. 9 at the Rice Theatre.
Plans were made for the chapter Christmas luncheon to be held on Dec. 9 at the home of Brenella Jaubert. The menu was planned and members were reminded to bring gifts for their secret sisters.
Following the meeting, the hostess served refreshments to members Glenda Atkinson, Hanks, Jaubert, Elsie Rowell, Stutes, Tislow and Trigg.
