Rayne High - St. Joseph High joint class reunion held
A joint class reunion was held Saturday, Oct. 25, 2014, at Chef Roy’s Frog City Café for the 1957 graduating classes of Rayne High and St. Joseph High Schools.
Over 20 Rayne High classmates attended the reunion from Rayne, Duson, Zachary, Iota, Abbeville, Broussard, Mire, Crowley, Baker, Lafayette and Baton Rouge.
Rayne High classmates attending were Dolores Deville, Donald Mier, Gloria Credeur, Audrey Miller, Ethel Menard, Therese Hayes, Carol Menard, Audrey LaFosse, Donnie DeRouen, Louis Thinodeaux, Nell Hardy, Doug Bordelon, E.J. Melancon, Joyce Arceneaux, Wayne Wyatt, Donald L. Mire, Elda Huval, Henry “Pete” Melancon, Louis Mier, Gloria Wyatt and Donald Domingue.
Deceased Rayne High graduates remembered were Etrelle Arceneaux Vincent, Helena Bernard Bertrand, Willodean Boudreaux Wilson, Nabbie Cahanin, Connie Deviller Butaud, Daniel Faulk, Lois Fontenot Petitjean, Earl Matte, Barbara Meche Colley, Murphy Moore, Carroll Prejean, Patrick Prejean, Aline Privat Thibodeaux, Alice Richard, Irving Richard, Thelma Smith Silva, Harry Thibodeaux and Betty Trahan Pourceaux.
Rayne High class officers were president Lois Fontenot Petitjean, vice president Wayne Wyatt, secretary Barbara Lyons Breaux and treasurer Louis Thibodeaux.
The Rayne High class flower was the red gladiola with the class colors of red and white.
The Rayne High class song was “Auld Lang Syne,” and the class motto was “Today We Follow, Tomorrow We Lead.”
Eight St. Joseph High classmates were in attendance from Rayne, Vinton, and Orange and Friendswood, Texas.
St. Joseph classmates in attendance were Yvonne Leger, Helen Menard, Mollie Foreman, Gene Braquet, Tom Johnson, Marvin Constantin, Gerald Braquet and Jules Simoneaux.
Deceased St. Joseph High graduates remembered were Leonard “Jake” Cramer, Stephen DuBose, Lou Ethel LeJeune Venable, Patricia Molbert Habetz, Claudia Petitjean Peltier and Frances Theunissen Benoit.
St. Joseph High class officers were president Tom Johnson, vice president Molli R. Foreman, secretary Helen H. Menard and treasurer Yvonne P. Leger.
The St. Joseph High class colors for graduation were red and white, with the class flower the red gladiola.
The Rayne High class song was “Red Sails in the Sunset,” with the class motto, “We have just crossed the bay, the ocean lies ahead.”
