Peggy Cormier

Rayne —A Mass of Christian Burial for Peggy Cormier, 72, of Rayne will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rayne.  Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery #2, Rayne.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 29, 2014 from 10:00 A.M. until 10:00 P.M. in Duhon Funeral Home, Rayne, with a rosary being recited at 6:00 P.M.   Visitation will continue on Tuesday from 8:00 A.M. until 12:30 P.M. in the funeral home.

Mrs. Cormier passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 6:00 P.M. in her Rayne residence.

A native and lifelong resident of Rayne, Mrs. Cormier was a graduate of Rayne High School.  She was a faithful and devout member of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, where she served as Eucharistic Minister.  

Mrs. Cormier did reside in Washington State while her husband served in the Army from 1963 to 1965.  While there, she worked at a candy cane factory.  She was a dutiful mother and wife, and after raising her daughters, she worked as a representative for B&M Video Company, and at Walton & Avant Jewelers in Lafayette.  Her greatest joy in life was being with and caring for her family.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Kermit J. Cormier of Rayne; daughters, Christine Guilbeaux and husband, Dale of Rayne, and Lacey Mouton and husband, Brent of Rayne; sister, Bonnie Fontenot and husband, Wallace of Mire; brothers, Tony Sonnier of Indian Bayou, and Jeffrey Sonnier of Indian Bayou; grandchildren, Claire Guilbeaux of Youngsville, Jordan Guilbeaux of Roberts Cove, Meghan Guilbeaux of Rayne, Lexie Mouton of Lafayette, and Gabrielle Mouton of Rayne; and great-grandchildren, Kristian Guilbeaux of Youngsville, and Mackenzie Campbell of Youngsville.  She is also survived by other relatives and a host of friends.

Preceding Mrs. Cormier in death were her parents, Wallace and Sadie Boudreaux Sonnier.
