Duhon Funeral Home, LLC of Crowley is in charge of the arrangements.
Funeral services will be held on Jan. 5, at 2 p.m. in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel in Crowley for Jeannie LaVergne, 72, who passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015, at 12:25 a.m. after losing her battle to cancer at Lafayette General Hospital in Lafayette.
Fr. Mark Miley, associate pastor of St. Michael Catholic Church, will be officiating for the services. Burial will be in Abshire Cemetery in rural Kaplan.
The family has requested the visitation to be held on Sunday, Jan. 4, at 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. A Rosary will be recited Sunday at 6 o’clock in the evening in the funeral home chapel. Visitation will resume Monday at 8 a.m. until time of services all in the Funeral Home Chapel in Crowley.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Eubale “Sonny” LaVergne of Crowley; one son, Rodney and wife, Lynn LaVergne of Church Point; one brother, Ray Reeder of Carencro; six grandchildren, Crystal and husband Christopher Badeaux of Morse, Amy and husband Lynn Mire of Crowley, Ashley Daigle and Michael Dupuis of Crowley, Christopher and wife Angelle LaVergne of Mowata, Scott and wife Miranda LaVergne of Eunice and Joshua LaVergne of Eunice; seven great-grandchildren, Triston Mire, Braydon Badeaux, Alli Badeaux, Kylie Daigle, Ayden Daigle, Gabrielle LaVergne and Austin LaVergne.
Pallbearers for the services will be Christopher Badeaux, Michael Dupuis, Christopher LaVergne, Scott LaVergne, Joshua LaVergne and Triston Mire. Honorary Pallbearers will be Lynn Mire and Braydon Badeaux.
Mrs. Jeannie was preceded in death by two daughters, Katherine L. Gerard and Joyce Daigle; and her parents, Harry and Vera Reeder.
