Couple honored during local engagement party

The home of Malcolm and Margaret Doucet in Rayne formed the setting for an engagement party held in honor of Margaret-Mary “Maggie” Doucet and Lance William Racca.
The engaged couple will be married on Feb. 6, 2015, during a Nuptial Mass at St. John’s Cathedral in Lafayette, followed by a reception at the City Club at River Ranch.
Maggie is the daughter of Malcolm and Margaret Doucet of Rayne.
Lance is the son of Karen Jackson Racca and Will and Lynette Racca, all of Rayne.
Against a color theme of navy and gold, the Doucet home was noted with numerous guest tables presented under a tree covering similar to an outdoor café, complete with chandeliers hanging from swooping branches. Each table was topped with candles, torches and white baby’s breath in vases that centered gold medalions. Also noted throughout the reception area were pictures of the couple.
Guests in attendance were treated to a variety of dishes, including pork roast, pesto crusted pork loin, bacon wrapped chicken, crescent rolls, sour dough bread, bacon wrapped green beans, cole slaw, creamed corn casserole, marinated vegetables, hot crawfish dip, assorted cheeses, assorted dips, beverages, Chantily lace cake, chocolae toffee bars, red velvet bon bons.
Guests were also treated to a hot chocolate bar which included various candy, mini-marshmallows, chocolate and vanilla chips, peppermint sticks, along with Kahlua and Bailey’s liquor.
For the special event, the bride-elect wore a white street-length dress designed with a dropped waist and topped with a tourquoise cardigan and soft beige scarf.
Among the 50 guests in attendance from Rayne, Lafayette, Crowley and Monroe, special guests were Dorothy O. Leger, maternal grandmother of the bride-elect, Wayne Leger, bride-elect’s godfather, and Carolyn J. Guilbeaux, prospective groom’s godmother.
