Body of fugitive found

Authorities in Acadia Parish are investigating the death of an 18-year-old Crowley man after his body was discovered in a field located in the 6500 block of Ebenezer Road Monday morning.
According to Acadia Parish Sheriff Wayne Melancon, his office received a call from a resident that discovered the body of 18-year-old Slye Mire of Crowley shortly after 10 a.m. Monday morning. Deputies located Mire’s body face down.
At this time the cause of death is unknown. His body is being taken to the Calcasieu Parish Coroner’s Office for an autopsy to determine cause of death.
Melancon said that according to information received by his office Sunday evening, officers with the Rayne Police Department received a BOLO (be on the lookout notice) for two suspects wanted for questioning in connection with a simple robbery that occurred in the city of Crowley. Officers with the Rayne Police Department spotted the vehicle in question and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. Officers advised that Silver Camero fled on West Jeff Davis in Rayne and ended underneath the Highway 90 overpass. The two occupants jumped out of the vehicle and fled on foot. A K-9 was brought to the scene in an attempt to locate the two suspects.
One juvenile was taken into custody a short time later and warrants were issued for the second suspect, Mier, by the Crowley Police Department for armed robbery, false imprisonment and unauthorized use of a vehicle.
The Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office is treating this as a suspicious death pending the outcome of the autopsy.
