Suspect jailed in fatal shooting of Rayne man
Church Point Police Chief Albert Venable reports Donald R. “Dino” Gotche Jr. was arrested by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Department without incident Monday night.
Gotche, 19, is the prime suspect in a shooting death of Donald Senegal, Jr., 26, of Rayne which occurred at 4:28 p.m. Sunday afternoon at the corner of N. Main Street and Sunrise St. in Church Point.
Senegal was shot multiple times and died on the scene.
Gotche, a Church Point resident, has been transferred to the Acadia parish jail in Crowley.
On Monday, a warrant was issued on Gotche by Judge David Smith of the 15th Judicial District for 2nd degree murder. His bond was set at $300,000.00.
Chief Venable reported his department is continuing its investigation.
Sources say there were other persons in the vehicle which was described as a gray four-door Oldsmobile Delta 88-older model.
Chief Venable thanked the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Department for the quick apprehension and assistance given to the Church Point Police Department.
