Cast call for ‘Always a Bridesmaid’ announced
The Acadia Players will hold auditions for the play “Always a Bridesmaid” at 6 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 23, and Wednesday, Feb. 24.
Auditions will be held at the Acadia Parish for the Arts and Culture (APCAC), 530 W. Mill St. in Crowley. Those auditioning should arrive on time for an overview of the play and the completion of paperwork.
“Always a Bridesmaid” is a hilarious story about love, friendship, life and marriage. The play was written by the trio Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten, collectively known as Jones Hope Wooten, who also wrote former Acadia Players’ productions “Southern Hospitality” and “Christmas Belles.”
“Always a Bridesmaid” is about four women who have been best friends since high school and made vow that they would be in each other’s weddings no matter what. Of course, none of them imagined the “what” that they would be “no mattering.”
The audience will get to see the lives of the women at each of their four weddings. The four scenes take place over the span of seven years in the sitting room of a suite in the Laurelton Oaks in Virginia, where each woman has been married, some of them multiple times. And each time, they’re bridesmaids for whoever is getting hitched.
There are roles available for six women. Crew for make-up, hair, costuming, lights and sound are needed as well.
Rehearsals will be held at APCAC from 6-8 p.m. on Mondays.
The play is being directed by Patty Ronkartz and produced by Shawn Murphy.
Performances will be held at APCAC May 1-9.
