First Investment hosting ‘Ladies Only Symposium’

For women, questions get a lot harder as they age.
As they grow up, long-gone are the days of “Will you go to prom with me?” and “What color dress should I wear?”
No, instead, the questions become a lot more important, like “Do I need a will?” or “How can I reduce the risk of identity theft?” or even, “What happens if I must move into a nursing home?”
The latter group of questions, and many more, including some you may have will be the subject of a morning Ladies Only Symposium this week.
Set from 9:30 a.m. to noon, Wednesday, March 4, at First National Bank, located at 128 N. Parkerson Ave. in Crowley, on the sixth floor. Coffee and light refreshments will be provided.
There is no charge for this symposium, but reservations are required. Reserving your seat is easily done by calling “Lisa” at 337-788-8926. It is that number that can also provide more information.
The symposium, sponsored by Sandy Melancon and Jeremy Patin of First Investment Services, is a chance for ladies to get the answers they need but don’t know who to ask before they need them. As pointed out, waiting until you need the information may be too late.
Melancon and Patin will also serve on the panel and discuss investments and insurance, respectively. Other members of the panel include Ken Dugas, CPA, who will discuss taxes; John Craton, attorney, who will discuss legal matters; Justin Lee, funeral director; Angelique Credeur, nursing home administrator; Loretta Boudreaux, banker; and Rachel Koch, identity theft; and Sandy Melancon, Investments.
Statistics show that the overwhelming majority of women will end up having to make extremely important financial decisions later in life due to having never married, filed for divorce or dealt with the death of a spouse. Knowledge and pre-planning are the keys to being prepared for the future.
