NAUW plans annual pageant

The National Association of University Women, Crowley Branch, held its Feb. 24 meeting, during which Charron Moore and Shelda Kelso were inducted, at the home of Dr. Ezora Proctor. Members that attended the Acadiana Area Founder’s Day shared highlights from the event. The first phase of planning for the group’s annual pageant in May was completed, along with plans for a reception honoring pageant contestants and their parents. Donations for a Reading Center at the Empowering the Community for Excellence tutorial center were discussed. It was announced that the NAUW immediate national past president, Dolores Owens, will speak in Lafayette on March 15 at The Petroleum Club at 3 p.m. It was also announced that the 56th South Central Sectional Conference will be held in Lafayette on June 18 -20. On hand for the meeting were, from left, Proctor, Hilda Jones, Kelso, Cynthia Winbush, Moore and Myrtle Cain. Also present but not pictured were Jocelyn Potier, Betty Gums and Pamela Thorns.
