Peter Joseph Mire

Peter Joseph Mire a resident of Kenner, entered into eternal rest with his Lord on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015. Born in Thibodaux on April 30, 1954, Peter will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his mother, Mary Lou Larose Mire of Thibodaux; his brother and sister-in-law, Glen and Mary Prejeant Mire of Lafayette; and two sisters, Ann Mire of Crowley and Ramona Mire Headifen and brother-in-law Ross Headifen of Melbourne, Australia.
He is also survived by one niece, his godchild Angela Mire LeBlanc and spouse Michael; three nephews, Geoffrey and spouse Naomi Mire, Jason Mire and Matthew and spouse Joyce Mire, all of Lafayette. He is also survived by great nephews and great nieces, Avery, Jude and Owen LeBlanc, Emma and Beck Mire, Christian, Blyth and Pierce Hulot and Fiona Zahra, and Wren Mire; and one great-great niece, Kylie.
Peter was preceded in death by his father, Guy R. Mire; and his sister, Elinor Mire.
Peter was a graduate of St. Paul’s High School in Covington and Nicholls State University.
He worked for the United States Post Office for 38 years in Nederland, Texas, Thibodaux and, since 1986, in Kenner.
An avid New Orleans Saints football fan and season ticket holder, Peter delighted in following his team, especially during the Super Bowl season of 2009. He enjoyed attending high school football games. He enjoyed reading history books in his spare time. Peter also enjoyed Mardi Gras and was a member Looney Tunes Carnival Club, Elks Orleanians. He also took pleasure in the many parades and festivities of New Orleans and always enjoyed attending Jazz Festival and going to the Audubon Zoo and the racetrack. He enjoyed sharing these activities with his friends and family. Peter also enjoyed traveling, especially to Colorado.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to The Fatima Center (17000 State Rt. 30, Constable, NY 12926) or the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America, La. Chapter (4141 Veterans Blvd. Ste. 212, Metairie, LA 70002).
Funeral services were held at St. Joseph Co-Cathedral in Thibodaux on March 7 with interment at St. Joseph Cemetery.
