Couple plans June wedding
Harold and Edna Meche of Mire are announcing the engagement and upcoming wedding of their daughter, Kayla Meche of Lafayette, to Evan Ruiz of Lafayette, son of Jay and Barbara Ruiz of Baton Rouge.
The couple will be united as husband and wife on Friday, June 19, 2015, during a 7 p.m. ceremony at the Assumption of the Blessed Vrgin Mary Catholic Church in Mire. A reception will follow at the Cajundome Convention Center in Lafayette.
The bride-elect is a 2008 graduate of Notre Dame High School of Acadia Parish in Crowley, attained her bachelor’s degree in 2012 at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, and is currently pursuing a masters of arts degree in teaching secondary education at McNeese State University in Lake Charles. She is currently employed as a teacher at Rayne Catholic Elementary and will assume a teaching position at Notre Dame High School in the fall.
The prospective groom is a 2008 graduate of St. Michael’s in Baton Rouge and a 2012 graduate of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette where he was a member of the Ragin Cajuns Football Team. He is presently employed by Workover Equipment Rentals.
Following their wedding, the couple will reside in Lafayette.
