In honor of the longest day of the year — June 21 — locals will be not only having fun but doing good work to bring awareness and raise funds to fight Alzheimer’s Disease.
The public is invited to join the challenge to create one-of-a-kind bedazzled, painted, adorned, etc. shoes for the “Shoelicious Gallery of Shoes Event.”
Each piece of shoe art will be showcased and prizes will be awarded, fun will be had all in the spirit of “Fighting to Make Alzheimer’s Just a Memory.”
The Sole Sistas’ Shoelicious Gallery of Shoes is set for Wednesday, June 17, from 3-6 p.m. Refreshments will be served at the wine and cheese event that is open to the public.
Entry is a $5 donation to benefit the Alzheimer’s Association. The Gallery of Shoes will be held at Southwind Senior Living Suites in Crowley.
Those looking to enter a shoe must deliver the shoe by June 17 at 11 a.m. for judging. Shoes can entered as a pair or solo and there is no fee for entry so you can enter as many shoes as you can decorate.
Designs can also be done individually or as a group.
So, find a shoe in your closet or pick up a pair at a local thrift store and get your creative shoe juices flowing to come up with a unique design that showcases your life, a hobby, a dream or a style; the sky is the limit in this contest.
The design does not have to be related to Alzheimer’s Disease.
