A&O, Sisters plan back to school events

The A & O 21st Century Club, Inc., along with support from the Sisters of A & O and 6th Man Sports, will again host the annual Back to School Event and Family Fun Day on Sunday, Aug. 9, at 1 p.m. with an adult bingo from 4-6 p.m.
The Rayne community is invited to the free event at the Rayne Civic Center, where school supplies, uniforms, door prizes, fun jumps, music, and even a free bingo for the adults were provided. More than 300 students took part in last year’s event.
As announced by event chairperson Brian Mouton, the Rayne Civic Center was again the location for the week-long “Open Gym” on Aug. 3-7 between the hours of 3 and 7 p.m., in addition to the Back to School Event on Sunday.
The A & O sponsored a street drive on Friday, July 31, and Saturday, Aug. 1, with proceeds to help with the purchase of much-needed school supplies for Rayne youth.
The public is encouraged to attend the free events.
