John, Shirley Quebodeaux celebrate 50th wedding anniversary
RAYNE - John and Shirley Quebodeaux of Rayne were honored on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2015, during a 50th wedding anniversary celebration held in their honor at Chef Roy’s Frog City Café.
The evening social was hosted by the couple’s daughters and their husbands, Rachel and Kurt Savoy, and Celeste and Ryan Stone.
The couple were married on Sept. 4, 1965, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rayne. Attendants for the couple were Peggy J. Deville and James D. Quebodeaux.
Mrs. Quebodeaux is the former Shirley Jagneaux, daughter of the late Emery and Hazel L. Jagneaux. John is the son of the late Henry and Nita Quebodeaux. John and Shirley are both retired.
They are the grandparents of John Kurt Savoy (Danielle), Cody Savoy (Tori) and Zachary Stone.
Their great-grandchildren are Hunter Savoy and Jaxon Savoy.
For the special event, Shirley wore a stylish black and gold ensemble, while her beau wore a black suit.
Guests were served shrimp gumbo, fried shrimp, crawfish and meat pies, buffalo wings, spinach dip, veggie tray, and the special anniversary cake, a double-layered, two-tier white and gold confection including fillings of pecan praline and strawberry.
Approximately 70 family members and guests were in attendance for the celebration from Rayne, Church Point, Kaplan, Opelousas, New Iberia, Broussard, Youngsville, Breaux Bridge, Baton Rouge, New Orleans, and Attica, Ind.
