Three young ladies will compete for the title of Miss Rayne 2015 this weekend on Saturday, Sept. 26, at 6 p.m. at the Rayne Civic Center.
Contestants for the ‘Safari’ themed Miss Rayne Competition will include La’Shonda Delco, Victoria Richard and Ashley Thibodeaux.
La’Shonda is the 17-year old daughter of Chandra Delco and Leonce Duhon Jr. of Rayne. She is a Crowley High School senior and is presently serving as the Debutante Queen for the Ebonite Civic and Social Club.
Victoria is the 17-year-old daughter of Sean and Holly Richard of Rayne. She is a Rayne High School senior and has recently served the city as the Frog Derby Queen and Frog Festival Teen Queen.
Ashley is the 18-year-old daughter of Darrin and Julie Thibodeaux of Rayne. She is a full-time student at South Louisiana Community College with a major in nursing.
The new Miss Rayne will be crowned by the outgoing honoree, Madison Vidal, who has completed a most involved reign as she represented the City of Rayne during local and area events.
In her outgoing letter to the citizens of Rayne, she expresses:
My year as Miss Rayne has been one of new and unique experiences. From volunteering at community events and seeing the children and parents of the city have all been enjoyed.
I was even able to meet some wonderful people from the United Kingdom who saw Rayne’s whimsy and thought it should be included in their documented travelogue -- another once in a lifetime occurrences, that without the title of Miss Rayne, I may have never enjoyed.
It has been such a fulfilling year being able to represent a city I truly do love. I’d like to thank my family and friends for all of the love and support they have given me throughout the year, especially my mom.
To my mom, you have been my biggest supporter, not only this year during my reign, but my entire life. I am more grateful than you will ever know for all that Lance and you have done for me.
To both sets of Rayne Royalty I have been a part of including Dana, Carly, Kailey, Catherine, Corinne, Ashlee, Caroline, Payton, Cailey and Victoria, it has been such a joy to get to know you all and I hope you all enjoyed your time with me this year, because I know I have had fun with you all. I wish you all the best of luck in your future endeavors.
To Ms. Suzette, thank you for being such a great pageant director and always keeping me informed of events and allowing me to partake. Thank you for being such a positive influence in my life. I’d also like to thank you for what you did a little over a year ago, which was persuading me to compete for this amazing title. The city is very lucky to have you and so is my successor.
To my successor, I hope you have the best year of your life holding this title and making the most of every event. It will be one of the most rewarding experiences and will give you a whole new appreciation for the city. Be kind, be positive, and stay humble.
I’ve had such an amazing year representing the community, and I am so thankful to God for this unbelievable year.
