Normalie Blanchard Thevis
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Mowata for Normalie Blanchard Thevis, 74, who died Sept. 30, 2015, at Encore Nursing Home.
Fr. Austin Leger will be officiating for the services. The family is requesting visiting hours to be held Friday from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home in Iota. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Friday.
Interment will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery.
She is survived by one daughter, Lynette Thevis LaCombe and husband Douglas of Iota; seven sons, Jimmy Thevis and wife Ella, Daniel Thevis and wife Michelle, Steven Thevis and wife Kathy, Wayne I. Thevis and wife Rosie, Blaise Thevis of Crowley, Kelly Thevis of Crowley and Bruno Thevis and wife Monique; two sisters, Rose Arton of Lafayette, Lela Picard of Eunice; 18 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Ms. Thevis is preceded in death by her husband, James Thevis; one son, Gene Thevis; her parents, Milton and Amy Leger Blanchard; one granddaughter, Desiree LaCombe; three sisters, Elvina Savoy, Catherine Young, and Dorothy Miller; and two brothers, Elvy and Levy Blanchard.
The pallbearers will be her sons.
The family would like to thank Dr. Satinder Saini and his staff, Dr. Robert Aertker and his staff, the staff of Encore Nursing Home; Dr. Karen Roden and the staff of Louisiana Oncologist and Associates; and the staff of Lamm Hospice for their care and compassion given to Ms. Thevis’s during her illness.
