Police Jury committee meeting quick

It took police jurors longer to get to the courthouse for Tuesday night’s committee meetings than the meetings themselves lasted.
Though three sessions with single agenda items listed were scheduled to be held, only one, very brief meeting was conducted.
Juror A.J. “Fatty” Broussard convened the Road and Bridge Committee and quickly received a recommendation to forward the calling of a public hearing to receive comments on setting a 15 mph speed limit on Floyd Road to the full jury when it meets on Oct. 13.
A request before the Building and Grounds Committee to place a rice thresher on the west side of the courthouse during the 79th annual International Rice Festival was not considered as Juror Robert Guidry explained after he inspected the site, it was determined there wasn’t sufficient space for the farm equipment.
The Finance Committee didn’t convene after Broussard reported there had been insufficient time to prepare the third quarter budget adjustments.
Secretary-treasurer Richard “Dickie” Latiolais explained later that, due to ongoing meetings with various department heads in preparing the 2016 budget, it was decided to put off the presentation of 2015 budget adjustments until a more complete list is determined.
