Sorority chapter hears of trip to Greece
Members of Laureate Mu chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met at the home of Phyllis Triggs on Nov. 3.
Following the opening ritual and Pledge of Allegiance, the hostess shared with those present memories of her 2014 trip to Greece.
She related that she was finally able to see and enjoy all that she had read of the country, its architecture, its culture and its beautiful scenery.
Triggs’ tour began in the city of Athens, where one of her favorite activities was climbing to the top of the Acropolis to the Parthenon, an ancient temple.
Her group also visited the city of Delphi, a beautiful site on the side of a mountain and home of the well-known Oracle of Delphi. Other cities visited were Olympia, site of the Olympic Games in classical times, and Corinth, the city where Saint Paul preached to the Corinthians.
Triggs displayed some of the remembrances from the trip and also showed a video with pictures that they had taken on their trip.
Connie Jaubert, cultural chairman, suggested that the Vermilionville trip scheduled for Nov. 6 be postponed because of expected rain that day. All agreed that the trip should be planned for a later date. Gloria Stutes, service chairman, collected spray bleach cleaner to be delivered to Miss Helen’s Soup Kitchen.
Plans were made to hold the chapter Christmas party at the home of Brenella Joubert on Dec. 8 at 11 a.m. The menu was planned with each member contributing an item. Secret sister Christmas gifts will be exchanged.
The hostess served refreshments to all present, including Glenda Atkinson, Shirley Griffin, Jaubert, Joubert, Elsie Rowell, Gloria Stutes and Nancy Tislow.
