Xi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma hears from local entrepreneurs
Xi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International held its November meeting at North Crowley Elementary School on Saturday, Nov. 14.
President Jessica Robichaux began the meeting by introducing the two program presenters, Emily Wolf and Melissa Gray, who recently started their own business venture.
Wolf related how she began her journey to becoming an entrepreneur after her young son had health issues and she began investigating the use of natural herbs and essential oils to replace the soaps and home supplies containing toxic chemicals.
She began experimenting making handmade soaps, bath salts, room deodorizers and other items for herself, and family and friends as a hobby. Soon her sister, Gray, joined her in the new project of producing these handmade home spa products with natural herbs and essential oils.
The products became popular, and they formed a company which they named MEspa.
The business portion of the meeting followed with Page Gray leading the group in reciting the collect and Sandra Pruitt leading in the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.
Robichaux presided over the regular committee reports session. Pruitt, as state membership chairman, passed out the new membership forms and explained how much easier the forms are to use. She urged members to be watchful for outstanding teachers to invite to join Delta Kappa Gamma. She also discussed the state convention in March in Bossier City.
Robichaux reminded the group that the next meeting is the annual Christmas dinner on Dec. 8 at the home of Jo-Anne Arnaud. She also reminded members that instead of contributing toiletry items for Faith House, the chapter had voted at the last meeting to bring reams of copy paper or snacks for the students in the after-school tutoring program that the chapter helps to sponsor.
Hostesses who provided delicious refreshments were Suzanne Gray, Carla Lambousy and Robichaux. In addition to those already mentioned, members in attendance included Josie Fontenot, Joanna Pruitt, Elaine Simon, Carole Stelly and Casey Vercher.
