Mr., Mrs. Joseph Broussard celebrate 70th anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Joseph “PeeWee” Broussard was honored on Saturday, Nov. 28, 2015, during a family gathering at the family home in Lafayette in observance of their 70th wedding anniversary.
The couple was married on Nov. 28, 1945, during a wedding ceremony held at St. Leo Catholic Church in Roberts Cove. Mrs. Broussard is the former Anna Marie Spaetgens of Roberts Cove.
Hosts for the anniversary celebration were the couple’s children and their spouses.
Their children are Faye Blankenship, Elaine Thibodeaux and Judy Dugas of Lafayette, Betty Serette of Cypress Island, and Laura Russell of Gilbert, SC.
They are the grandparents of 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Guests were served a special anniversary cake topped with an image of the couple’s wedding picture taken 70 years ago.
Guests included immediate family members, with special guests of Ruby and Leo Spaetgens, brother of Mrs. Broussard.
