A & O 21st Century Club presents Beautillion

The A & O 21st Century Club, Inc. staged its 19th Annual Beautillion on Saturday, Nov. 29, 2015, at the Rayne Civic Center entitled, “Suit and Tie.”
During the evening’s festivities set against formal black and white background with a touch of red, the 2014 honoree, Desmond Cole, crowned his successor, King Dillon Charlot.
Dillon is the son of LaTanye Senegal and the late Jason Hamilton and a junior at Church Point High School. His escort for the special event was Shandra Jolivette.
Named First Runner-Up Jayson Thomas, son of Sadie Wheeler and Jason Thomas and a junior at Rayne High School. His escort for the evening was Diajh Young.
Named “Mr. Debonair” was Joshua LaBostrie, son of Anthony and Shemeka Huval and a senior at Acadiana High School. His escort for the event was Kierra Kemper.
The list of Beaus, along with their escorts includes:
Malik Butler, son of Timeka Butler and a senior at Rayne High School. His escort for the evening was Tajane Butler.
Joshua Labostrie, son of Anthony and Shemeka Huval and a senior at Acadiana High School. His escort was Kierra Kemper.
Notorious McClel-land, son of Jason McClelland and Sandra Briggs and a junior at Rayne High School. Shantirra Ceasar was his escort for the event.
Jacqco Price, son of Constance and Gilbert Price and a senior at Crowley High School. His escort was Jalatsia Hebert.
Jayson Thomas, son of Sadie Wheeler and Jason Thomas and a junior at Rayne High School. Diajh Young was his escort.
Dondre Wheeler, son of Louanna Roberts and Tony Roberts and a junior at Basile High School. Natasha Roberts was his escort.
Also acknowledged during the Beautillion, the Ronald Duplichain Community Award was presented to an outstanding individual who contributes towards the good of the city. The 2015 honoree honored during the evening’s festivities was Melvin Lawrence.
Lester Washington was named A&O’s “Man of the Year” for his dedication for the club and community.
From the Sisters of A & O, the award for the 2015 “Sister of the Year” was presented to Rosa Mouton, while Marjorie Batiste was acknowledged as the 2015 Woman of Excellence. Both have served the club in a most helpful manner in service for the community.
Honorees and guests were welcomed by Ball Chairman Brian Seth Mouton, who delivered the welcome address, followed by the invocation by Deacon Nolton Senegal.
Serving as mistress of ceremonies was Suzette Leonards who introduced the outgoing 2014 honoree, Desmond Cole, son of son of Dora and James Keys.
A minuet choreographed by the Sisters of A & O, presented the Beaus and their escorts, along with last year’s king who delivered his farewell.
The toast to the royalty was led by Hilda Wiltz, as entertainment was provided by dancers of Project Dance. General dancing and music was provided by Chazen Entertainment.
The presentation was completed with the grand waltz participated by the Beaus and their mothers.
Special thanks to the many volunteers who offered their assistance and helped with another successful Beautillion Ball.
