Leo Charles Zaunbrecher

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, Jan. 16, at 10 a.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church and Cemetery for Leo Charles Zaunbrecher, 88, who died peacefully in his home surrounded by his loved ones on Monday, Jan. 11, 2016.
Leo was born on Oct. 12, 1927, to Joseph and Annie Zaunbrecher. He was a rice and soybean farmer and lifetime resident of Mowata. Leo was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be missed dearly, especially by his grandchildren with whom he loved to be around.
He is survived by four daughters, Barbara and husband Glenn Richard of Conroe, Texas, Jennifer and husband Ray Kimbrough of Baton Rouge, Nina and husband Bill Loyd of Sugarland, Texas, and Jill and husband Chris Dover of Mowata. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren, Chris, Lauren, Annie, Carly, Will, Allison, Liam and A.J. “Booboo”; one step-grandchild, Eric; and two great-granddaughters, Ella and Kimberly; four sisters, Edna Z. Broussard of Lafayette, Genevieve Z. Tate of Midland, Texas, Joyce Z. Melancon of Lafayette and Dot Zaunbrecher of Lafayette; and two brothers, Hilary Zaunbrecher of Lafayette and Donald Zaunbrecher of Bueche.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Stella Low Zaunbrecher; his parents, Joseph and Annie Dischler Zaunbrecher; three brothers, Ferdinand, Gerald and Harold Zaunbrecher.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home on Friday, Jan. 15, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to service time at St. Lawrence Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Leo’s name to St. Michael Catholic School, 805 E. Northern Ave., Crowley, LA 70526.
