James Arville Beard

James Arville Beard of McGehee, Arkansas, passed away April 10, 2016, in Hot Springs, Arkansas. He was born Sept. 26, 1938, in Iota to Arville and Earnestine (Cart) Beard.
Mr. Beard was a graduate of Northeast Louisiana University with a degree in pharmacy. He married Ann Andrews Aug. 31, 1963, in Monroe. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of McGehee. He was a member of Kappa Alpha Order Fraternity. He was a retired pharmacist from Walmart Pharmacy in Greenville, Mississippi. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, fishing and going to the horse races.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Andrews Beard of McGehee; son, Jay Beard of Springdale, Arkansas; son, Beau Beard and wife Shea Beard of McGehee; brother, Leonard Beard and wife Karen Beard of Crowley; sister, Elizabeth (Sis) Gardiner and husband Tommy of Crowley; three grandchildren, Jack, Anna Claire and Mary Stewart Beard; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Arville and Earnestine Beard; and brothers Hershal Beard, Hillery Beard and Harold Beard.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 14, at Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service in McGehee from 5-7 with Rosary following at 7. Funeral services will be Friday, April 15, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in McGehee at 11 a.m. with burial following McGehee Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Philip Cingolani, Danny Day Jr., Scott Day, Barry Dopson, Michael Efird, and Andy Gill. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Bowman, Larry Bratton, Freddie Cummings, Raymond Day, Hayden Harper Jr., Bill Hodge, Billie Joe Myers, Johnny Lauve, Steve Simpson and Charlie Turner.
