Margaret Jane Williams Sauer
Margaret Jane Williams Sauer, 70, died Monday, April 11, 2016, at Lafayette General Hospital Southwest.
Margaret was born in Crowley on Aug. 13, 1945, graduated from Crowley High School in 1963, attended Briarcliff Junior College in New York, Centenary College in Shreveport and graduated from McNeese State University with a B.A. Degree in English and history.
She was most recently employed by Acadia Parish School Board and the Louisiana Tourism Welcome Center in Butte La Rose. She was retired.
She is remembered for her dry wit and her love of trivia and history, especially family history. She particularly enjoyed estate sales, antiques and traveling with her husband.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 45 years, Laurence A. Sauer III; her son, Robert L. Sauer and wife Antonia of Youngsville; granddaughter, Abigail Lynn Sauer; her brother, Wayne E. Williams of Crowley; her sister, Edna W. DelaHoussaye and husband Marque of Crowley; sisters-in-law, Phyllis S. Stevens of New Orleans and Christine S. Elfert and husband Walt of Candler, North Carolina; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her father, Lloyd G. Williams of New York; mother, Jane T. Omohundro; stepfather, Jack H. Omohundro; and grandparents, Wayne and Genevieve Thomson, all of Crowley.
Visitation will be at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home in Crowley on Wednesday, April 13, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a Rosary at 7 p.m.
A private memorial and burial will be held in Waveland, Mississippi, in the Sauer family plot on Friday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. Stanislaus College, Bay St. Louis, Mississippi; the Kidney Foundation for Dialysis or a charity of your choice.
