Irene Gannard Simon
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 18, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church for Irene Gannard Simon, 88, who died June 16, 2016, at her residence in Lyons Point surrounded by her loving family.
Fr. Clint Trahan, pastor of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, will be officiating for the services. The family is requesting visiting hours to be held Friday from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Friday. Interment will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
Mrs. Simon was a dedicated member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She was a catechism teacher, sang in the choir, and a member of the St. John the Baptist Ladies Altar Society. She loved sewing, crocheting and spending time with family.
She is survived by three sons, Johnny Simon and his wife Babs of Lyons Point, Tommy Simon and Cheryl of Estherwood and Jack Simon and his wife Rita “Frenchie” of Judice; seven grandchildren, Marcey Broussard and her husband Skip, Steven Simon and his wife Pallavi, Bryan Simon and his wife Bridget, Leith Stoma and his wife Brooke, Lauren Fontenot and her husband Jeremy, Jena Trahan and her husband Craig and Kera Brossette and her husband Rayce; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Simon is preceded in death by her husband Emery G. Simon; her parents, Cleopha and Edmazee Cormier Gannard; and one brother, Wilson Gannard.
