Enesia “Poon” LeJeune
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Enesia Hebert LeJeune announces her passing on Saturday, June 18, 2016, at Jennings American Legion Hospital at the age of 89.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 20, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Basile. Interment followed in the St. Augustine Mausoleum with Father David Hebert as celebrant.
Enesia, affectionately known as “Ms. Poon”, was born in 1926 to Onezipe and Rosa Hebert in Golden Meadow. She spent her youth on a houseboat along the bayous of Lafourche Parish immersed in the trapping and shrimping industry. In 1945, she married Hillary LeJeune, her loving husband and moved to Basile where they made their home. Enesia was a homemaker and devoted her life to the care of her family. She was a talented seamstress and took great pride in her yard and flowers. Ms. Poon was known for her sharp wit and enjoyed bringing laughter to those around her.
A loving mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her, especially her sister, Emelda Lafont of Abbeville; her son, Carl LeJeune and wife Jeannette of Crowley; daughter-in-law, Nancy LeJeune of Kaplan; grandchildren, Gretchen Whitaker, Nicole Dore, Ryan LeJeune, Curry LeJeune and Mandy Ardoin; and 13 great-grandchildren; as well as extended family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Hillary LeJeune; her son, Mark LeJeune; and grandson, Kyle LeJeune.
At the request of the family, visitation was held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Basile on Monday, June 20, from 8 a.m. until time of services.
