Eddie Derouen
Funeral Services will be held at a 3:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at St. Theresa the Child Catholic Church for Eddie Edward Derouen, Sr., 89, who passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2009 at 9:50 PM at Abbeville General Hospital.
Reverend Kenneth Mayne, Pastor of St. Theresa the Child Catholic Church , will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services.
Burial will take place in St. Paul Cemetery.
Mr. Derouen a resident of Abbeville, LA, was the son of the late Alcide Derouen of Vermilion Parish and the former Lydia Mayard of Vermilion Parish. He served in the United States Army during World War II. Mr. Derouen retired as a Tugboat captain with Berard Brothers and Flotation Services.
He is survived by his wife, Eula M. Derouen of Abbeville; one daughter, Diana Sarver and husband Billy of Baton Rouge; one son, Eddie Derouen, Jr. and wife Dewanna of Lafayette; four grandchildren, Susan Gremillion and husband Brian of Baton Rouge, Kern Derouen and wife Melissa of Denver, Colorado, Troy Sarver and wife Teri of Houston, Texas, and Jason Derouen of Denver, Colorado; seven great-grandchildren, Ashley Gremillion of Baton Rouge, Lauren Gremillion of Baton Rouge, Tyler Sarver of Houston, Texas, Carly Sarver of Houston, Texas, Amber Lynn Derouen of Denver, Colorado, David Kern Derouen,Jr. and Autumn Derouen both of Maurice; one sister, Dollie Frederick and husband Reaux of Venton; one brother, Ellery “Pete” Derouen and wife Velma of Baton Rouge.
He was preceded in death by his Parents; two sisters; five brothers.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Tuesday from 11:00 am until 10:00 pm and will continue on Wednesday from 8:00 am until time of services. A Rosary will be recited on Tuesday at 7:00 pm in the funeral home.

Erath – A Mass of Christian Burial for Joseph “Joe” Vores Bernard, 88, was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 30, 2009 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Fr. Wayne Duet officiated.
A native of Vermilion Parish and a resident of Erath Mr. Joe died at 8:30 p.m. on Friday, March 27, 2009 at Maison du Monde Living Center.
He proudly served his country in the Coast Guard during WWII; was a member of the Knights of Columbus; and was known for his carpenter work; his enjoyment of hunting, watching football, golf, and nascar racing.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years , Dorothy “Dot” Landry Bernard of Erath; a brother, Lee Bernard of Erath; an adopted daughter, Jenil and her husband Michael Falgout of Delcambre; two grandchildren, Christine and her husband David Laperouse of Abbeville, and David Falgout and his wife Jennifer of Erath; five great grandchildren, Tyler Laperouse and Danielle Laperouse of Abbeville, Brooke Falgout, Blair Falgout, and Allie Falgout of Erath; and his good friends, Ben Delahoussaye and his wife Virgie of Erath and John Landry, Sr. and wife Krista and their family; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry J. Bernard, Sr., and Bernadette Bernard; his son, Rane Scott Bernard; two brothers, Leo Bernard and Henry J. Bernard, Jr.; and a sister, Antoinette B. Lee.
Serving as pallbearers will be David Falgout, David Laperouse, Tyler Laperouse, Kevin Bernard, John Landry, and Shelby Bernard.

Kaplan—Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at a 2 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Marie Ida Belle Broussard Champagne, 76, who died Saturday, March 28, 2009 at Hospice of Baton Rouge.
She will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Reverend David Broussard officiating the services. Serving as pallbearers were Jeremy LeBlanc, Adam Ryan LeBlanc, Rynn Delcambre, Michael Broussard, Dale Broussard, and Chance Cantrelle. Honorary pallbearers will be Cole Delcambre, Dax LeBlanc, and Cy-David LeBlanc.
Mrs. Ida was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and wonderful friend to all who knew her. Her greatest joy was her family, but most of all, her great grandchildren. She was a member of the Ladies Altar Society and belonged to numerous clubs throughout her lifetime. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and having family gatherings. Her family was her pride and joy. She was a beautician for 35 years.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Irby Champagne of Kaplan; one daughter, Sandra C. LeBlanc of Abbeville; one brother, John Roy Broussard and his wife Beulah of Maurice; three grandchildren, Tracie Delcambre and her husband Rynn of Erath, Jeremy LeBlanc and his wife Kristie of Erath, and Ryan LeBlanc and his wife Felicia of Lafayette; and five great grandchildren, Cole Delcambre, Camryn Delcambre, Dax LeBlanc, Mollie-Grace LeBlanc, and Cy-David LeBlanc.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerard and Elina Broussard; her sister, Lurtha Broussard; and one brother, Wilbert “Bert” Broussard.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Tuesday, March 31, 2009 from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7 p.m.; Wednesday, April 1, from 9 a.m. until the procession departs for the church.
Mrs. Champagne’s family would like to take this time to thank all who took excellent care of her in the ICU unit at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge. Our deepest gratitude goes to all the doctors and nurses at the Hospice Unit “Butterfly Wings” in Baton Rouge, but most of all they would like to thank Dr. Mark Kantrow of Our Lady of the Lake Hospital.

Kaplan—Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan honoring the life of Bertha Perrin, 87, who died Monday, March 30, 2009 at Heart Hospital of Lafayette.
She will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Deacon Paul Roy Eleazar officiating the services. Serving as pallbearers will be Thad James Roy, Chad Anthony Roy, Troy Suire, Johnathan Perrin, Keith Suire and Ronnie Perrin.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kini Suire, Randy Suire, Kenny Suire and Jess Perrin III.
She is survived by one son Jess W. Perrin Jr. and his wife Jan of Kaplan; one daughter, Linda Breaux of Kaplan; eighteen grandchildren, forty-two great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jess W. Perrin Sr., one daughter, Dorothy Clark Suire, her parents, Odelon Clark and the former Felician Breaux, six brothers, Obray, Wilfred, Emery, Felix, Nelton and Walter Clark, one great grandson, Thomas M. “Tommy” Roy and one son-in-law, Maurice Breaux.
