Alex Wayne Bertrand, Sr.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel for Alex Wayne Bertrand, Sr., 65, who died Thursday, April 10 2014 in Crowley.

Deacon Rodless Leleux will be officiating for the services. The family is requesting visiting hours to be held Friday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to the time of service. A Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Friday evening. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Alex dedicated his life to public service and made many lifelong friends along the way. He worked for the Crowley Fire Department for seven years, Acadia Parish Sheriff Office for 4 years and the Louisiana Fire Marshall Office for twenty-six years.

He is survived by “The Love of his Life” Donna Bertrand of Estherwood; three daughters, Julie Morton and her husband Wayne of Crowley, Wendy Lapointe and her husband, John of Rayne, and Dinah Istre and her husband, Clayton of Mermentau; four sons, Eric Berken of Rayne, Thad Berken of Rayne, Blaine Hebert and his wife, Kristin of Crowley, and Marcus Hebert and his wife, Katherine of Estherwood; his mother, Anna Belle Duhon Bertrand of Crowley; one sister, Vickie Broussard and her husband, A.J. “Fatty” of Crowley; one brother, Dwayne Bertrand and his wife, Kim of Lafayette; fourteen grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Alex is preceded in death by his father, Alex Bertrand, and one son Alex “Petie” Bertrand, Jr.
