Alfred Pavy Bercier

Alfred Pavy Bercier, 85, of Crowley passed away Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, at 7:55 p.m. He is the son of Dr. Edwin Lastrapes Bercier and Lucille Pavy Bercier of Rayne.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mrs. Sarah Armentor Bercier; his sons, Mark Bercier of New Orleans and Conrad Bercier and wife Aimeé Zaunbrecher Bercier of Lafayette; daughter, Rebecca Ann Young of Crowley; grandchildren, Collin Stuart Bercier and wife Lauren Norfleet Bercier of Carencro, Joey James Abshire and wife Teresa Wade Abshire of Turkminstan, Caroline Bercier of Seattle, Wash., and Ryan Christopher Bercier of New Orleans and eight great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, six siblings and his son, Christopher Bercier.

Mr. Bercier was the owner of Southern Tire at 1001 Eraste Landry Road in Lafayette for 46 years. He was the founder of Southern Tire and Appliance in Crowley, which is now owned by his son, Conrad.

A memorial Mass with Father Mikel Polson presiding was held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Crowley, Saturday, March 1, at 11 a.m. A reception followed the Mass at the St. Michael’s Parish Hall. Any contributions may be made to St. Michael’s Church of Crowley or Hospice of Acadiana.
