Anthony “Tony” Spaetgens

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, Oct. 12, at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rayne for Anthony “Tony” Spaetgens, 91, who passed away at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Lafayette surrounded by his family on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2015, at 4:33 a.m.
Fr. Kevin Bordelon, pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church, will be officiating for the services. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Catholic Church New Cemetery in Rayne.
The family has requested the visitation to be held on Sunday, Oct. 11, at 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel in Rayne. Deacon Tim from St. Joseph Catholic Church will recite a Rosary at 6 o’clock Sunday evening in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will resume on Monday, Oct. 12, at 8 a.m. until time of services.
Survivors include three daughters, Karen and husband Wayne Blanchard of New Iberia, Mona and husband Jim Gros of Lafayette and Melanie and husband Ken LeBlanc of Hemphill, Texas; one brother, Leo Spaetgens; one sister, Marie Broussard; four grandchildren, Shelly and husband Jerome Lange of New Iberia, Kaci Blanchard of New Iberia, Corey Gros of Jacksonville, Florida, and Jill Gros of Lafayette; and three great-grandchildren, Laney, Sakura and Greison Lange.
Mr. Tony was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Spaetgens; his parents, Hubert Leo and Elizabeth Spaetgens; four brothers, Joseph, Lawrence, Charles and infant John Spaetgens; and one sister, Allie Agnes Caillier.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt Thank You to Maison de Lafayette Nursing Home and Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital for all the care that was given to Mr. Spaetgens.
